Abstract
Foretelling (Beraate-estehlal) is one of the ancient rhetorical figures in the history of Persian literature and there is evidence of that in Pahlavi language. Various definitions have mentioned for this rhetorical figure by rhetorical scholars and we can identify following elements as common elements: mentioning by the beginning of text, symmetry between foretelling and content of text, expressing content of the work and to be brief. Joweini has tried to create a poetic language by using of variety rhetorical figures, and by this means has moved from narrative pole to describe pole. In this study, the authors try to answer these questions: What is the frequency of foretelling in the Joweini′s Jahangosha history and how Poetic elegancy used to create these rhetorical figures. Result of this study shows this rhetorical figure was used at the beginning of eighteen different stories and the writer by describing the morning inform the story content to the reader. He has tried to create a different picture of the sun in every story. His pictures are very diverse: sometimes black and tragic, sometimes white and filled with hope.
